Between that and Cleveland Magazine’s interview with Carter Bays, there’s a lot of talk about how much of the show is based in real life. • USA Today ran a story about the mystery surrounding the mother, with some input from Josh Radnor and Craig Thomas.

Other NPH things I don’t have any video or photos for: He was at the premiere of a Criss Angel/Cirque du Soleil show tonight, and apparently he dressed as a British magistrate for the Playboy Halloween party.

• Neil Patrick Harris will provide the voice of the villain in the upcoming game Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard. (Matt Hazard will be voiced by Will Arnett.) You can see him talk about his character here (it’s the fourteenth segment on the timeline), and he was in this promo for Game Trailers TV.
• TV Guide got a quote from Carter Bays about Alyson’s pregnancy.
• Alyson Hannigan walks, drinks something orange.

You guys, I will be so glad when Monday’s episode airs and I can stop treating every scrap of information about the episode like it’s a major spoiler. But since it hasn’t aired yet: Two batches of links! The first batch contains no Shelter Island spoilers.

• Jamie-Lynn Sigler has signed on to play Jillian in 4.08. Spoiler level: Nothing new for those of you who read yesterday’s post, nothing major for those of you who didn’t. He just does the whole “Sigler will play Jillian, who is…” thing, and it’s a) not entirely correct, so far as I know, and b) not very spoilery at all.
  
• Greg Malins is making a pilot for ABC.
• Jason Segel will be on Live with Regis and Kelly on October 27. [Thanks to Shermie for the tip.]
• Sarah Chalke will be on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on October 22.
• A self-employed prestidigitator [look it up] named Neil Harris contributed to No on 8. [Proposition 8 would undo California's legalization of gay marriage.]
• Auction! A TiVo HD, signed by Neil Patrick Harris [and some other celebrities from Stand Up To Cancer, which is what the auction is for]. It comes with a year’s subscription to TiVo.
• Alyson Hannigan and Alexis Denisof get stalked by paparazzi in Santa Monica.
• TV Week interviewed the co-chairs of Twentieth Century Fox [the studio that produces HIMYM] – mostly industry stuff, with a few mentions of the show and how the studio feels about it.

And everything in the second batch contains some degree of spoiler for the episode:

• Watch With Kristin analyzes the various relationships on the show. Quotes from the cast and some spoilers for 4.05, 4.07 and 4.08, but none of them are new.
• Zap2It was on set when they filmed 4.05. So was IGN! Both have a lot of quotes from Josh and Sarah, as well as some new information.
• Also on set: The LA Times, who did a piece on Pam Fryman. Quotes from some of the cast, some minor new information about the episode.

This episode will probably air on November 3. Spoilers: Three photos are spoiler free photos of the group, three photos are from a flashback to one character’s past – basically the spoiler equivalent of seeing photos of Ted (or Marshall or Lily) in college before they first appeared, Barney pre-awesome before Game Night aired, or Robin Sparkles before Slap Bet. I don’t know what the deal is with 404 stills – at this point it looks like they aren’t coming. As for these photos, if you don’t already know what 405 is about, the spoilers are huge. It’s nothing you wouldn’t see coming past the first five minutes of the episode, but you’ve been warned.

• According to Just Jared, Josh Radnor is in the October issue of the LA Times magazine – it’s unclear whether it’s just that one quote or if there’s a full interview. Anyone got a copy handy?
• Television Without Pity interviewed Craig Thomas. It’s a great interview, lots of information – if you’re concerned about spoilers, I would say it’s safe. He does talk about upcoming episodes, but it’s all very general, and the most specific he gets is saying who Jason Jones will play.
• New photo of Neil.
• You have until Saturday to apply to join the Evil League of Evil. MTV.com has an article on the process.
• On October 24, Neil Patrick Harris will participate in the unveiling of Harry Houdini’s renovated star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
• CBS is testing out an interactive video site – basically, while watching full episodes online, you can comment on them with others who are watching, compete in trivia contests, and throw tomatos at (or blow kisses to) the characters onscreen. Currently the only episode available (for all of CBS, not just How I Met Your Mother) is The Best Burger in New York.
• BuddyTV has put up the next video from their set visit a few weeks ago – this one’s a Jason Segel interview.

CBS has confirmed that I Heart NJ, not Intervention, will be airing third. (If you’ve haven’t been reading spoilers: Intervention was originally listed as 403, but continuity-wise it seemed like I Heart NJ should come before it.) Official description:
