This post will be updated with more information as it becomes available.
Viewers: 9.84 million. This is a season high, and the highest viewership has been since Ten Sessions. It is also the sixth new episode in a row to have a larger audience than the previous week’s episode.
Compared to other networks: HIMYM fell second to DWTS in audience and households, but won its time period in 18-34 and 18-49.
Compared to other CBS comedies: HIMYM is back to improving on The Big Bang Theory’s audience, but Worst Week saw a surge in viewers, so HIMYM was third again. HIMYM was first in 18-34, second in 18-49 and 25-54, and last in households.
CBS spins it:
CBS won Monday in key demographics with its best deliveries since premiere week, led by season high ratings for HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, according to preliminary Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Nov. 17.
HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER was first in adults 18-34 (3.7/10), tied for first in adults 18-49 (4.3/10, with ABC), second in households (6.0/09), viewers (9.84m) and adults 25-54 (4.7/10). HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER posted season highs in households, viewers, adults 18-49 and adults 18-34.
You guys, I will be so glad when Monday’s episode airs and I can stop treating every scrap of information about the episode like it’s a major spoiler. But since it hasn’t aired yet: Two batches of links! The first batch contains no Shelter Island spoilers.
Jamie-Lynn Sigler has signed on to play Jillian in 4.08. Spoiler level: Nothing new for those of you who read yesterday’s post, nothing major for those of you who didn’t. He just does the whole “Sigler will play Jillian, who is…” thing, and it’s a) not entirely correct, so far as I know, and b) not very spoilery at all.
Jason Segel will be on Live with Regis and Kelly on October 27. [Thanks to Shermie for the tip.]
Sarah Chalke will be on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on October 22.
A self-employed prestidigitator [look it up] named Neil Harris contributed to No on 8. [Proposition 8 would undo California's legalization of gay marriage.]
Auction! A TiVo HD, signed by Neil Patrick Harris [and some other celebrities from Stand Up To Cancer, which is what the auction is for]. It comes with a year’s subscription to TiVo.
And everything in the second batch contains some degree of spoiler for the episode:
Watch With Kristin analyzes the various relationships on the show. Quotes from the cast and some spoilers for 4.05, 4.07 and 4.08, but none of them are new.
