As commenter JB pointed out in the post-ep for Intervention, Claudia was indeed played by Virginia Williams, the same actress who played her in S1. I got my information from the CBS press release for the episode, which says Claudia is played by Michelle Gunn, but the end credits say it was Virginia Williams. (Michelle Gunn actually played Mrs. Abergast - the mother of Lily’s student who got Ted’s letter by mistake.)
Compared to other networks: Second in its timeslot again, behind Dancing with the Stars. However, it was first in its timeslot with adults 18-34.
Compared to other CBS comedies:How I Met Your Mother was last on CBS in viewers and households last night. (The Big Bang Theory edged it out by about 200,000 viewers, and Worst Week saw a ratings bump since it faced Samantha Who instead of Dancing with the Stars.) However, in the age-specific numbers (18-49, 18-34, and 25-54) HIMYM got better numbers than either Theory or Week.
CBS spins it:
HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER was first in adults 18-34 (3.3/09) and second in households (5.6/08), viewers (9.25m), adults 25-54 (4.5/10) and adults 18-49 (3.9/10).
At the end of the episode, we see everyone a year into the future - someone’s still living in the apartment upstairs [likely Ted and Robin, given the end of The Goat], Ted’s not wearing a wedding ring, Lily’s not visibly pregnant but also not drinking, and Barney and Robin get pretty close for the photo, but not so close that there’s definitely something there.
Stuart’s wife Claudia was recast - in this episode she was played by Michelle Gunn, but in Season One she was played by Virginia Williams. False! The CBS press release for the episode said that Michelle Gunn played Claudia, but thanks as JB points out, the credits say it’s still Virginia Williams - Michelle Gunn actually played the mother of Lily’s student.
