Ratings: Do I Know You?

From PIFeedback:

CBS featured four season-premieres last night — The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Two and a Half Men and CSI: Miami — plus the series-debut of Worst Week. Here are the opening results results:

8:00 p.m. The Big Bang Theory – Viewers: 9.36 million (#2), A18-49: 3.6/10 (#2)
8:30 p.m. How I Met Your Mother – Viewers: 9.74 million (#2), A18-49: 4.0/10 (#2)
9:00 p.m. Two and a Half Men – Viewers: 14.93 million (#2), A18-49: 5.3/12 (#1t)
9:30 p.m. Worst Week – Viewers: 11.04 million (#2), 18-49: 3.8/ 9 (#3)
10:00 p.m. CSI: Miami – Viewers: 16.87 million (#1), A18-49: 5.1/13 (#1)

The returning series were all above year-ago opening levels.

To put that in perspective, 9.74 million is the largest number of viewers since Ten Sessions, which scored 10.64 million viewers. It’s slightly higher than the 9.73 million No Tomorrow (the show’s post-strike return ep) drew, and nearly 1.5 million higher than last season’s premiere.

From CBS:

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER (P) was second in households (5.9/09), viewers (9.75m), adults 25-54 (4.7/11) and adults 18-49 (4.0/10).  Compared to last season’s premiere (at 8:00 PM), HOW I MET YOUR  MOTHER was up +11% in households (from 5.3/08), +21% in both adults 25-54 (from 3.9/10) and adults 18-49 (from 3.3/09) and added +1.54m viewers (from 8.21m, +19%).  HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER built on its BIG BANG THEORY lead-in by +4% in households, +12% in adults 25-54, +11% in adults 18-49 and added +390,000m viewers.  This is HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER’s best ever premiere in adults 18-49.

Update, 9/30: CBS press release analyzing the final numbers:

CBS was the only network to show premiere week growth with its returning scripted programs as HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, TWO AND A HALF MEN, CSI: MIAMI, NCIS, CRIMINAL MINDS and CSI: NY all returned with larger audiences compared to premiere week last year.

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER (P) was second in households (5.9/09), viewers (9.79m), adults 25-54 (4.8/11) and adults 18-49 (4.0/10).  This is the best season premiere performance for HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER ever in adults 18-49.  HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER built on its BIG BANG THEORY lead-in by +4% in households, +14% in adults 25-54, +11% in adults 18-49 and added +470,000m viewers.  Compared to last season’s premiere (at 8:00PM), HOW I MET YOUR  MOTHER was up +11% in households, +23% in adults 25-54 and +21% in adults 18-49.

Clips from Season Four

The Chicago Tribune has a clip from 401 up, in which Stella responds to Ted’s proposal.

Entertainment Tonight went on set during the filming of 402 – there’s a lot of Regis. A lot. Then there’s some NPH, some footage from the episode, and…nothing from any of the other actors, if I’m remembering right.

Another S4 Promo

This time with an actual clip from 401:

Thanks to madamotaku at LJ’s Barney/Robin community.

Also, if you’re in a Where’s Waldo kind of mood, how many HIMYM cast members can you find in this Emmy ad? I see Jason, Josh, and Neil, but Cobie and Alyson might still be in there somewhere.

401 Photos, NPH on Letterman, Signed Jeans

You can see 14 promotional shots for 401 here. SPOILER ALERT: Apparently they go to MacLaren’s. [No, really, it doesn't give anything away beyond that, unless you consider "Jason Segel still needs a haircut" a spoiler.]

  • A HIMYM drinking game has been posted over at Fanpop.
  • You can see NPH’s appearance on Letterman here (as well as a ton of other great Neil videos), thanks to NPH-fan.com.
  • ABC just gave the sitcom Single with Parents a midseason pickup – the show’s from Kristin Newman, who was a producer on HIMYM during S2 and wrote the episodes “Single Stamina” and “Ted Mosby, Architect.”
  • The cast of HIMYM signed a pair of jeans for the Clothes Off Our Back auction, which will run until September 8 and benefit several charities.

Episode 401: Do I Know You?

LOTS of spoilers after the jump. Also, this is what they’re planning, but there’s no guarantee the final cut of the episode will match these spoilers exactly, as there should be more drafts and revisions of the script between now and then. [Filming starts August 11.] Continue reading →
