First and foremost, sorry about the lack of updates recently - you can expect three or four different news roundups throughout the week as I get the site up to speed.
CBS has announced HIMYM’s schedule through the end of February, and with that much official information, it’s possible to outline most of the rest of the season as far as airdates are concerned. Assuming a 24-episode season and a finale date of May 19 (the last Monday of May sweeps), here’s how it should end up looking:
February 9: New episode - 415, The Stinsons.
February 16: Rerun - I Heart NJ.
February 23: Rerun - Intervention.
March 2: Rerun or 416 - Sorry, Bro.
March 9: 416 or 417.
March 16: 417 or 418.
March 23: 418 or 419.
March 30: 419 or 420.
April 7, 14, 21: Either three reruns or 420 and two reruns.
April 28: 421.
May 5: 422.
May 12: 423.
May 19: 424 - season finale.
After the jump: Some information about where The Leap is likely to fall in the episode order. No new information about episode content, but if you’re at all wary about spoilers I’d recommend staying away.
The Leap is almost certainly 424. It was revealed in Cobie’s New York Magazine interview and at last week’s HIMYM panel that the season finale was shot already, which explains why spoilers surfaced for The Leap but no episode number.
[The rest of the season hasn't been shot yet - taking care of the finale early protects it against the uncertainty of having two female leads whose pregnancies might not let them finish out the season.]
It’s unlikely that there will be a lot of focus on a long buildup to Barney’s feelings being revealed, though, since they can’t be too dependent on Cobie’s presence in the final few episodes. Look for the last chunk of the season to focus on Ted (how he ends up going into business for himself), Barney, and Marshall.

I heard before the season started that there was supposed to be 26 episodes this year. Can you confirm that there was atleast this report?
At the time the show was renewed in May, Variety had an unconfirmed report that the episode order was 26. Neil Patrick Harris seemingly confirmed that number a week later on Regis and Kelly, but a few months later Craig Thomas called it 24 in an interview.
I’d be more inclined to say Alyson will be missing from a few episodes. Cobie is due a little later than Alyson so I’m not too worried about her not being in all the episodes. Alyson is due early spring though.
What happened to “Marshall Eriksen forgets his pants”? I thought that was 4.16?
BlahBlah - I doubt Cobie will miss anything (on last year’s schedule that would have been a bigger concern), but it’s still something they’d have to be prepared for, and in any case they’ll be using her less at the end of the season as she starts to show more.
Tara - Just a title change, it’s the same episode.
i hope we somehow get back on track to the mother search soon….
Eventhough the show is basically all about the mother, the things that go on other than how ted met the mother I think is more entertaining
