InFANity: How I Met Your Mother
October 16th, 2008 — alyson hannigan, behind the scenes, carter bays, cobie smulders, craig thomas, guest stars, jason segel, josh radnor, neil patrick harris, pamela fryman, segel hairwatch, video
This aired a few weeks ago, but TV Guide just put it on YouTube. No spoilers (this was filmed two months ago), and they basically threw every single behind-the-scenes clip they could find into this, going back to Season Two, but there are some great interviews with the cast, as well as Carter Bays, Craig Thomas, and Pam Fryman. Most notably, in the first video, Alyson Hannigan endorses The Hair.
And Josh Radnor kicks ass at HIMYM trivia, only to be stumped by the lyrics to Let’s Go to the Mall:
Correction! Also: Segel.
October 14th, 2008 — 4.04, audio, cast on the air, guest stars, jason segel
As commenter JB pointed out in the post-ep for Intervention, Claudia was indeed played by Virginia Williams, the same actress who played her in S1. I got my information from the CBS press release for the episode, which says Claudia is played by Michelle Gunn, but the end credits say it was Virginia Williams. (Michelle Gunn actually played Mrs. Abergast – the mother of Lily’s student who got Ted’s letter by mistake.)
And to make this post worth your while, the Elliot in the Morning website has uploaded an MP3 of Jason Segel’s call to the show this morning.
Ratings: Intervention
October 14th, 2008 — 4.04, ratings
This post will be updated with more information as it becomes available.
Viewers: 9.25 million – up from last week’s 8.98, and up over a million viewers from the same week last year.
Adults 18-34: 3.3/9
Adults 25-54: 4.5/10
Households: 5.6/8
Compared to other networks: Second in its timeslot again, behind Dancing with the Stars. However, it was first in its timeslot with adults 18-34.
Compared to other CBS comedies: How I Met Your Mother was last on CBS in viewers and households last night. (The Big Bang Theory edged it out by about 200,000 viewers, and Worst Week saw a ratings bump since it faced Samantha Who instead of Dancing with the Stars.) However, in the age-specific numbers (18-49, 18-34, and 25-54) HIMYM got better numbers than either Theory or Week.
CBS spins it:
HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER was first in adults 18-34 (3.3/09) and second in households (5.6/08), viewers (9.25m), adults 25-54 (4.5/10) and adults 18-49 (3.9/10).

Post-Ep: Intervention

Barney’s blog has the full text of his letter to Ted.
In Case You Missed It:
- At the end of the episode, we see everyone a year into the future – someone’s still living in the apartment upstairs [likely Ted and Robin, given the end of The Goat], Ted’s not wearing a wedding ring, Lily’s not visibly pregnant but also not drinking, and Barney and Robin get pretty close for the photo, but not so close that there’s definitely something there.
- Stuart’s wife Claudia was recast – in this episode she was played by Michelle Gunn, but in Season One she was played by Virginia Williams. False! The CBS press release for the episode said that Michelle Gunn played Claudia, but thanks as JB points out, the credits say it’s still Virginia Williams – Michelle Gunn actually played the mother of Lily’s student.
- You can get your own R2 Sweet Tooth here. [Found by Ms of Arc on the TWoP boards.]

Today in HIMYM: Tuesday, October 14
October 14th, 2008 — today in himym
1. Barney’s book, The Bro Code comes out today, as a paperback and as an audiobook read by Neil Patrick Harris.
2. The game Saints Row 2 also comes out today – Neil voices one of the main characters. It’s available for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, with a PC-compatible version coming next month.
3. Jason Segel will be calling the Elliot in the Morning radio show sometime during today’s show – given that it runs from “5:48 until 10 something” Eastern time, and Jason’s on Pacific, I’d listen for Jason in the last hour or so. Either way, it’ll probably end up on the EITM official site.
4. TV appearances – Knocked Up will be on HBO at 1:30 AM (an hour and a half from now), and Josh Radnor’s recent Craig Ferguson appearance will reair tonight.

1. The Episode Guide
I was originally planning to hold off on this until all of the episode pages were complete, but given the interest in current episodes, I’ve put the S4 guides online. You can access them from the menu at the top of the page. The pages for 401-403 are more or less what all of the episode pages will look like – if there’s anything else you’d like to see, you can let me know with a comment or by emailing dary@legen-waitforit.com.
2. The Calendar
As you probably know, the calendar page lists upcoming TV appearances for the cast as well as release dates and other important events. I’ve been considering a daily post outlining everything that’s happening in the upcoming 24 hours – is that something you’d find helpful? Sometimes the only thing that’s happening is a 3:00 AM airing of Knocked Up, but then there are the days where Jason Segel’s on Letterman and one of Neil’s TV movies is airing.
3. Roundups
Starting this week, News Roundups will be posted every Friday – anything that happens during the week that isn’t time-sensitive or big enough to merit its own post will appear in the roundup.
4. Old News
On the first of every month, I’ll be posting a collection of old news – interviews, videos, photos, anything that I’ve come across that’s interesting and hasn’t been covered on the blog before but that isn’t recent enough to go anywhere else.

Excerpt: The Bro Code
October 11th, 2008 — audio, barney stinson, himym merch
The Bro Code [previously covered here and here] comes out on Tuesday:
Everyone’s life is governed by an internal code of conduct. Some call it morality. Others call it religion. But Bros in the know call this holy grail the Bro Code.Historically a spoken tradition passed from one generation to the next, the official code of conduct for Bros appears here in its published form for the first time ever. By upholding the tenets of this sacred and legendary document, any dude can learn to achieve Bro-dom.
You can hear a clip of the audiobook [about four and a half minutes], read by Neil Patrick Harris, here. Or: right-click, save. [Thanks to KR for the tip!]
Amazon.com posted an excerpt, which is after the jump. Continue reading →
