407: The Sock/Jeremy’s Sock

This will be 407, so I’ve relabeled The Naked Man 409. Spoilers ahead!

Anyone who’s been disappointed by the lack of Marshall/Lily stories in the spoilers we have is in for a treat - this one’s all about the Eriksens. Lily befriends a woman named Charlotte, who has a baby boy named Jeremy. Marshall and Lily are completely taken in by how cute he is, and start to consider having kids of their own. Lily ends up having doubts when she considers how hard being a parent will be (courtesy of some horror stories from Charlotte) and what it could do to her and her marriage.

Naturally, the group is split. Ted and Marshall are in favor of kids, Barney and Robin are against. Barney is inspired to create a new holiday - Not A Father’s Day - and has moderate success making it into a thing. Ted and Robin spend the episode arguing - Ted says Robin just hates babies, Robin says Ted, despite being single and childless, is a total dad already.

Robin lives with Ted by 409, but it hasn’t happened yet - in this episode, she crashes at Marshall and Lily’s, and later at Ted’s.

Also, the “Cheerleader Effect” bit from I Heart NJ has been moved to this episode.
