Episode 401: Do I Know You?

LOTS of spoilers after the jump. Also, this is what they’re planning, but there’s no guarantee the final cut of the episode will match these spoilers exactly, as there should be more drafts and revisions of the script between now and then. [Filming starts August 11.] Continue reading →

Happy Birthday, Josh – have some free Dr. Horrible!

Josh Radnor turns 34 today.

Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog is once again available, official and for free, but with a few ads this time.

Neil Patrick Harris Q&A, plus some Future!Mosbys

Last minute, I know – NPH will be on The View today. 10 AM, ABC.

A transcript of the Washington Post chat can be found here. [Some Dr. Horrible spoilers.] My favorite part:

Damn: I’m straight and I think I’d go out with you. Probably upset the wife and kids, though. So what do you think happened to Doogie? Did he grow up, buy a Porsche and start a family practice in the suburbs?

Neil Patrick Harris: He probably developed an addiction to painkillers and wanders around with a cane at some hospital somewhere…

There’s also a small piece of Emmy talk from him here.

As for the Future!Mosbys – Bob Saget has been cast in a new CW sitcom, and apparently Ted’s son and Robin’s sister are dating.

Bits and Pieces

The Washington Post is currently taking questions for a Neil Patrick Harris chat that will take place in…seven and a half hours. Submit your questions now!

Gloria Calderon Kellet is nominated for an ALMA award – Outstanding Writing for a Television Series, “How I Met Everyone Else.”

A TCA roundup: Photos of Neil and Cobie at the CBS TCA party, more photos, Cobie talks about Sarah Chalke [it's highlight #2], Sarah Chalke talks about everyone, Neil talks about marriage, Regis and Kelly, and being a fairy shoeperson.

Finally, the initial numbers say Dr. Horrible racked up 2.25 million views.

S4 Spoiler Summary

I’ve put together a compilation of spoilers about the upcoming season here. [Just a heads up, there isn't a lot in the way of specifics.] When new spoilers become available, they’ll be posted as news items, just like before, as well as added into the summary.

Joss Whedon Q&A – Sequel? Soundtrack? DVD?

The Washington Post did a live chat with Joss Whedon earlier today – you can read the whole thing here, but here’s the big stuff:

Stuttgart, Germany: I want, no, I need a sequel! Any chances?
Joss Whedon: It’s over! Let it go!

Or, okay…. We’d love to, but it wouldn’t be simple and it wouldn’t be soon. And frankly, Neil needs to work on his singing. The voice has promise, but…

Calgary, Alberta: Any ETA on the CD/DVD?
Joss Whedon: Soon as we can, but definitely in time to make the perfect stocking stuffer! (Why does that sound dirty this time…?)

Over at philly.com, Neil says a little bit about working with Joss.

Josh Radnor in Finks

For those of you near Poughkeepsie, Josh Radnor’s starring in a production of the show Finks at Vassar’s Powerhouse Theater. The show runs from tomorrow until August 3.

In the summer of 1952, a stand-up comic on the verge of a big TV breakthrough and an actress/activist meet and fall in love. But the House Committee on Un-American Activities is about to present the terrible choice that tests not only their love, but the friendships, loyalties, and convictions of a generation.

You can read more about the production here and here.

If you’re interested in going, you can buy tickets here (there’s a message about how only subscriptions are available before June 4, but it looks like you can just ignore that and move on to purchasing individual tickets), or by calling (845) 437-7235.

S3 DVDs – Cover Art and Updated Extras

Changes to the extras include titles for the Marshall/Lily honeymoon videos and the How It Really Happened extras [no surprises, all of those videos were already available online] and some changes to the commentary listings – Carter Bays isn’t listed for as many as before, and there’s now a commentary listed for The Chain of Screaming: writer Chris Harris, Jason Segel, “and his driver Danny Bress.”

The DVDs will be out on October 7 – at $25.99, Amazon’s preorder is the cheapest I’ve seen, although they do list the wrong date.

Full list of extras after the jump. Continue reading →

Doctor Horrible Roundup

All three parts of Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog are now online at drhorrible.com. Watch them as soon as possible, because the free viewings will be discontinued tomorrow. [You can still buy the whole thing on iTunes for $3.99.]

One more Comic Con appearance: Dark Horse comics (Booth 2615) put the Dr. Horrible gang on their list of signings. I’m not clear on the details, but it’s 3-4:30PM Friday, and you’ll need to talk to a Dark Horse employee (Booth 2615) about getting a ticket.

Interview with NPH: Alan Sepinwall talked to Neil about the project. If you haven’t seen Act III yet, you’ll want to scroll past the review at the beginning, which contains MAJOR spoilers, to get to the Q&A below.

HIMYM Goes Liter-[wait for it]-ary, Craig Thomas talks Robin/Barney

Awesome news – the Chicago Tribune talked to Craig Thomas, and he says he and Carter Bays [along with Matt Kuhn, who wrote Slapsgiving and Columns, as well as Barney's blog] are currently writing the Bro Code as a book that will be published this November.

There are some low-level spoilers as well – he talks about Stella as a potential mother, why they decided to go the Robin/Barney route, and how much attention they’ll be giving that story when the show comes back.

Apart from the book news, it is, as usual, Alan Sepinwall who asks all the right questions – his interview with Craig Thomas is a must-read if I’ve ever seen one. There’s a little bit of what everyone will be up to when the show comes back [for example, how Marshall and Lily will play into the Ted/Stella and Barney/Robin stories that the finale set up], the future of the goat [and whether Robin will really be living with Ted when we hear the story], and how to make Barney/Robin work without defanging Barney or making Robin look ridiculous.
