“Everything Must Go” is the episode airing May 12, the last episode before the season finale.
Whether or not they’ve officially announced it, it looks like they’re definitely expecting to have Stella’s receptionist Abby back. More spoilers after the jump. This one’s a Lily-centric episode – more specifically, about how art is her passion, but she teaches for the money. On the teaching side, Lily is supposed to bring her class on a field trip to the Met, but when the museum is closed, she brings the kids to see Robin at Metro News One, which goes about as well as can be expected.
After a poorly-received showing at an art show, Lily is thrilled when she manages to sell a painting to a G-CWOK [Gay Couple Without Kids, a crucial demographic in the art world] – but when she calls them to ask if they’re interested in buying more of her work, she finds out that they’ve thrown out the painting – it was the antique frame that they were after. Lily is crushed, and Marshall goes to the buyer’s apartment to confront them and get the painting back.
All’s well that ends well, though – Lily finds that her paintings, while not of much importance in the art world, serve a rather unusual purpose in other areas.
Other characters: Abby is back, and Barney’s introducing her as his girlfriend - it looks like he’s trying to rub it in Ted’s face that he’s not the only one who can become lame and annoying through commitment.
